Owner’s Engineer during the proposal period, bid evaluation and planning (by Chinese Company SEPCO III) of a new Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP), provided as a 2-2-1 configuration with a total capacity of about 350 MWel and a 60 MW district heating facility.

Plant configuration:

Two GE-gas turbine Frame 9E with DryLowNOx (DLN) combustor, two Chinese supplied waste heat boiler 2-pressure drum boiler, one Dong-Fang-steam turbine. two auxiliary boilers for back-up for the 90MWth district heating system.

Investigations, consultancy in a team of specialists and working out respective measures regarding an efficiency improvement for each of ESKOM’s 10 existing bituminous coal fired power plants. The works have been settled for 4 (four) continuous local actions in RSA, duration of each 6 weeks.

 

Each of the 10 Eskom’s power plants consists of 6 to 10 steam generators and 6 to 10 condensing steam turbines, depending on the design and the year of construction, including the respective Balance of Plant (BoP)

Target of the works: improving unit heat rates by 1 % in minimum of the total power plant heat rate.
