Project description:

Combined Cycle Power Plant 90 MWel and steam supply for feeding into the existing district system of the Wuppertaler Community. Brownfield installation as well as built a new hall for the installation of the gas turbines and Heat Recovery Steam Generators.

2 new gas turbines H25 from Hitachi (each 30 MWel) 2 new once through steam generators from the Kanadien Supplier IST, 3 new gas compressors and the refurbishment of the existing ABB extraction / condensation steam turbine.

Special feature: the start-up of once through steam generators is in dry condition. Feed water is introduce to economizer at 400°C GT exhaust temperature.

Tasks: Deputy Project Manager Power Plant Technology and engineer consult Boiler technology. Generation of the approval documents for the officials.

Project description:

Extension of an existing Co-generation/Desalination plant up to 1.400 MWel and a potable water production of about 320.000 m³ per day. 

Substitution of three existing Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG) downstream three existing gas turbines by three new HRSG and five new HRSG downstream five new gas turbines. Each of all HRSG are provided with a Supplementary Firing (SF) for doubling the steam production.

Main components:

  • 3 refurbished and 5 new GTs Frame 9E from GE
  • 8 new HRSG in total from NEM, NL
  • 3 backpressure steam turbines from ABB

Desalination plant from SIDEM, France

Tasks: Thermodynamic calculations for double check. Supervision of Engineering, shop expediting, incl. QA / QC, guidance of erection and support during commissioning. Trouble shooting and investigations regarding damages inside the HRSG, caused by the SF, route causes in the burner and insulation areas. Recommendations and realization of technical solutions for trouble shooting.
